In Greene County district court Rickie Eugene Tuhn, 57, of Jefferson was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after he pleaded guilty to a charge of assault- simple, amended from assault causing injury or mental illness. Court costs were $91.50 in that case. Judgment was also entered in a case initiated in magistrate court in which Tuhn was charged with assault- simple. He was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge in that case. He must pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $60 court costs on that case. (Sentencing: Honorable Joseph B. Thomas Edward Young Jr, 43, of Grand Junction was sentenced Jan. 2 to 30 days in jail after he pleaded guilty to a charge of domestic abuse assault- first offense, amended from domestic abuse assault causing injury. All but two days of the jail time was suspended, and he must pay sheriff’s room and board fees for the time he serves. He was placed on informal probation for one year. He must complete the Iowa domestic abuse program at his own expense. Young was fined $315 with a $110.25 surcharge and a $100 domestic abuse assault surcharge. He must pay $600 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: McCarville)
Persons pleaded not guilty at arraignment as follows: Thomas Edward Davidson Jr, 59, of Rippey, operating while intoxicated- first offense; Eiddie Mun, 34, of Grand Junction, domestic abuse assault- third or subsequent offense; and Christopher Richard Sowers, 46, of Grand Junction, driving while license barred. Trial dates were set for March 5 in every case.
Cases were initiated in district court as follows: Daniel Joseph Tasler, 27, of Jefferson, unlawful possession of prescription drug; Crawford James Petterson, 18, of Jefferson, criminal mischief- fourth degree and trespass causing injury or damage greater than $200; August Kristopher Halverson, 20, of Jefferson, OWI- first offense; Michael Allen Olson, 57, of Jefferson, OWI- first offense, and in a separate case, assault on persons in certain occupation.
